Latur News: The agriculture department has appealed that farmers should not depend only on DAP (diammonium phosphate) fertilizer and use alternative fertilizers available in the market during Kharif season.
Maharashtra is a pioneer for integrated nutrient management system based on soil testing and soil health maps. Now that sowing has started in the state, there is a high demand for DAP fertilizer from farmers. DAP fertilizer contains 18 percent nitrogen and 46 percent phosphorus as nutrients.
In this situation, it is necessary to use alternative fertilizer to compensate the deficiency of DAP fertilizer. After DAP, SSP (Single Super Phosphate) is the most demanded fertilizer among phosphorus fertilizers. SSP fertilizer is produced domestically and contains 16 percent sulfur and other micronutrients.
Application of SSP fertilizer in oilseed crops will be beneficial due to sulfur nutrient. Instead of one bag of DAP fertilizer, use of half a bag of Urea and three bags of SSP is a good alternative to DAP. Along with SSP, NPK - 10:26:26, NPK - 20:20:0:13, NPK - 12:32:16 and NPK - 15:15:15 combined fertilizers, along with Nitrogen and Phosphorus, the nutrients like Palash are also available to the crops.
Therefore, the use of these compound fertilizers is beneficial for the crops. At the same time, TSP (Triple Super Phosphate) fertilizer has 46 percent phosphorus content, and instead of one sack of DAP fertilizer, one sack of urea and one sack of TSP fertilizers should be used as an alternative to DAP.
